Co-founder & President Southern Alberta Myeloma Patient Society
Support Group Leader
7 year+ Myeloma Warrior
I was diagnosed on September 28, 2004 at 49 years of age.
My Warrior Creed is:
Over, under ,around or through, whatever it takes I will do!
My Motto is:
I am brave, I am strong, I will not quit...I am a Warrior
I am not afraid of storms for I have learned to sail my ship
My passion and purpose since being diagnosed has been to help others dealing with this disease, to try to ease their fears, to advocate for public funding of our treatments, to create public awareness of myeloma as well as fundraise for much needed research.
Please never give up hope...as miracles happen everyday. We are living in a time of great advances in myeloma research and we have two of the best Doctors in the world and their staff working hard on finding new and better treatments for us right here in Calgary.
Just take one day at a time and be sure to take good care of yourself...enough rest, good nutrition and do-able exercise. Remember that your caregivers are going through this journey by your side and do some fun things together too, as well as attending to the myriad of appointments, treatments and tests that the myeloma situation requires of you. Keeping a journal might help you to sort out your thoughts and feelings.
